It goes without saying that, as College of Charleston employees, we have a lot in common โ maybe even more than we know!
That’s why the Staff Advisory Committee to the President (SAC) is inviting faculty and staff to connect with likeminded employees through affinity groups. This SAC Morale & Wellness Subcommittee initiative aims to bring the campus community together in new, collaborative ways.
Faculty and staff may use the SAC Affinity Groups Interest Form to join one or more of the three existing affinity groups (listed below) and/or to propose a group they would like to see formed on campus โ whether it’s a group for gardeners or a group for trauma survivors, all suggestions are welcome! Please note that this form collects email addresses to help SAC connect users with the group that they’re interested in joining or developing.
Three existing affinity groups are already formingย culturally affirming spaces across campus:
- The LGBTQ+ Faculty & Staff Coalition is an inclusive group that brings LGBTQ+ faculty, staff and allies together to support one another.
- The Staff & Faculty Families Network is an inclusive group of parents/caregivers of children/dependents and allies that network as needed, shares tips and meets to support one another.
- The Whipper Grant Caucus is an inclusive group of self-identified Black/African American employees and allies that uplifts, empowers and advocates for the interests of its members.
The SAC Morale & Wellness Subcommittee has also created a Creative Ideas form, where faculty and staff may share suggestions for making the College more inclusive and welcoming and for initiatives that would contribute to their professional success and/or wellbeing. Please note that this form collects email addresses to help SAC recognize who shared the idea.
In addition, the SAC Communication and Concerns Subcommittee invites CofC employees to submit ideas, suggestions/recommendations, concerns, questions and/or solutions through their SAC representative or the Cougar Cares: Staff Input form. Staff may also email SAC at sac@cofc.edu.
