Thirty-two faculty and staff members took advantage of the College of Charleston’s Employee Tuition Assistance Program (ETAP) for the fall 2021 semester, and the Office of Human Resources (HR) hopes to see even more participants for spring 2022.

Launched last summer, ETAP is an excellent opportunity for qualifying College of Charleston employees. The program covers basic tuition and certain fees for up to six credit hours per academic term (see the College’s ETAP policy for details and definition of “academic term”) at the undergraduate or graduate level at the College of Charleston for a maximum of 18 credit hours each academic year.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer these expanded professional development options to our employees,” says Becky McManus, training and development director in human resources. “Professional development is an integral part of employee success, and there’s no better place to further one’s education than right here at the College of Charleston.”

Employees may begin applying now for tuition assistance for the spring 2022 semester. The deadline for applications for the spring 2022 semester is Nov. 15, 2021. Employees should carefully review the policy and program requirements in advance, as there are stipulations. For example, employees must apply and be accepted for enrollment through the appropriate admissions process for each term they wish to receive funds. Employees must also have approval from their supervisors.

Once employees are admitted and have been notified of their assistance to the program, they may then register for the course through MyCharleston. Course registration opens Nov. 1, 2021. Faculty and staff can check out the spring 2022 course offerings in advance through the Office of the Registrar’s website.

Visit the HR ETAP webpage for more information and a link to the application. Contact Becky McManus or Brooke Anne Bedingfield, training and  development assistant, with questions. For questions regarding admission to the College, visit https://cofc.edu/apply/.
