To ensure that Zoom users receive the latest Zoom features and any privacy and security enhancements made to the platform, beginning Nov. 1, 2021, all Zoom users, including those with the College of Charleston, will be required to update their Zoom software to ensure it is no more than nine months behind the current version. From that point on, users will be prompted to update their software when using the platform should their version fall behind this nine-month window.
In preparation for the new schedule and to avoid service disruption, Zoom users should update to the latest release – or, at minimum, software version 5.5.0 – prior to Nov. 1, 2021, by following the instructions outlined on Zoom’s website for:
As always, Zoom users should regularly download and update to the latest version of the Zoom software by checking for updates within Zoom client or by navigating to cofc.zoom.us/download. Users on older versions of Zoom may be at risk of bugs and vulnerabilities that have been resolved in more recent versions.
