The Staff Advisory Committee to the President (SAC) is accepting suggestions for new affinity groups, March 1–10, 2022.
SAC affinity groups give staff and faculty the opportunity to have honest, open discussions about issues of concern and to work on the development of viable solutions to help eliminate identified barriers to employment. The groups can also propose ideas to improve knowledge, sensitivity and understanding of the special issues affecting employment of diverse groups. By building respectful partnerships with diverse voices, experiences and perspectives, affinity groups promote inclusive excellence.

Faculty and staff may suggest new affinity groups using this online suggestion form. Approval of a suggested affinity group will be made based on interest and alignment with the purpose of SAC affinity groups.
When suggesting the formation of an affinity group, please keep in mind that each affinity group’s members are expected to:
- have a clear mission statement that contributes to the larger purpose and objectives of affinity groups;
- maintain a voluntarily basis for membership and/or related activities;
- be open to all CofC employees around the common demographic trait;
- maintain a public presence, such as a website or social media page;
- host regular meetings that are open to the campus community; and
- adhere to the College of Charleston’s Prohibition of Discrimination and Harassment, Including Sexual Harassment Policy.
SAC looks forward to reviewing affinity group submissions and welcoming new affinity groups within CofC.
