Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Suzanne Austin shared the following message with the campus community on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, regarding the naming of a new interim dean for the School of Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering:

Dear Faculty and Staff,

I am pleased to announce that Seth Pritchard, professor of biology and associate dean of the School of Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering (SSME), will assume the role of interim dean of SSME on January 3, 2024. I want to take this opportunity to again thank Dean Sebastian van Delden for his outstanding leadership of SSME and to wish him success as provost of Winthrop University.

Seth received his Ph.D. in botany from Auburn University and joined the College in August 2003 following research appointments at Auburn and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and teaching at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Seth directed the College’s undergraduate minor in environmental studies for several years and, prior to being appointed as associate dean, he served as chair of the Department of Biology.

I look forward to Seth joining the senior leadership team and leading SSME during this interim period. Seth’s knowledge of the school, programs and faculty will be invaluable in the days ahead. Please join me in congratulating Seth for stepping into this important leadership role.

Sincerely,

Suzanne
