Have you ever wanted to study astronomy, history or music? Well, thanks to the Employee Tuition Assistance Program (ETAP),ย you can โ€“ and, since it’s right here as the College, it’s convenient and free (or just about)! What are you waiting for? The deadline for Maymester/summer semestersย is April 1, 2022.

Launched last summer, ETAP is an excellent opportunity for qualifying College of Charleston employees. The program covers basic tuition and certain fees for up to six credit hours per academic term (see the Collegeโ€™s ETAP policyย for details and definition of โ€œacademic termโ€) at the undergraduate or graduate level at the College of Charleston for a maximum of 18 credit hours each academic year.

โ€œWe are thrilled to be able to offer these expanded professional development options to our employees,โ€ saysย Becky McManus, director of employee development and employee relationsย in the Office of Human Resources. โ€œProfessional development is an integral part of employee success, and thereโ€™s no better place to further oneโ€™s education than right here at the College of Charleston.โ€ย

Employees may begin applying now for tuition assistance for the Maymester and/or summer 2022 semesters. The deadline for applications is April 1, 2022. Employees should carefullyย review the policy and program requirements in advance, as there are stipulations. For example, employees must have approval from their supervisors.

They must also apply and be accepted for enrollment through the appropriate admissions process for each term they wish to receive funds. Employees who have applied to the College and taken courses within the last two semesters, do not need to re-apply. Graduate School admission and registration guidelines will apply for graduate-level coursework. Once admitted, employees may register for the course via MyCharleston or MyPortal. They will be notified of their approved funding after they’ve registered and before tuition bills are due.

Visit theย HR ETAP webpageย for more information and aย link to the application. Contact McManusย orย Brooke Anne Bedingfield, training andย  development assistant, with questions. For questions regarding admission to the College, visitย https://cofc.edu/apply/.
