The College of Charleston’s linguistics program and the Department of Hispanic Studies will host the Fourth Southeastern Conference on Linguistics next week.
The conference, from March 8-11, 2017, at the Beatty Center, has attracted attendees from universities across the Southeast. One of the highlights will be the Friday evening plenary talk “An inside look at Gullah: What makes it distinctive?” by David Frank of SIL International.
The conference is sponsored by the College’s linguistics program, the Department of Hispanic Studies, the School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs, the Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture and the Office of Institutional Diversity.
