As the College of Charleston strives to be a more diverse and inclusive university, it has issued an official pre-formatted email signature for faculty and staff that includes gender pronouns and a name pronunciation guide. The initiative was supported by the Staff Advisory Committee to the President (SAC).
Employees may use the below template as a guide and evaluate whether a phone number, fax number and/or email address is necessary for their email signatures. Those who do not monitor their phone or fax should not include this information. Including an email address in signatures may be redundant; however, it is something that employees who often forward emails or whose emails are often passed on to others should consider.
The official format for email signatures is as follows:
Line 1: name (pronunciation guide)
Line 2:ย pronouns
Line 3: title
Line 4: official name of employee’s division, department or office
Line 5: College of Charleston
Line 6: Charleston, S.C. 29424-0001
Line 7: phone number(s) (if applicable)
Line 8: fax number (if applicable)
Line 9: email address (if applicable)
Street address may follow, if applicable, as seen in the example below:
